Current Games
These games are currently in print and should be available through normal distribution channels (and thus your local game store) or directly from the publisher.
The Scale and Complexity values for each game were mainly determined by a poll hosted by SCN early in 2002. A new poll to get values of games released since then will be done soon. A total of 104 valid responses were received in the 2002 poll and those answers complied and the average response is indicated below. An Excel spreadsheet is available with all the valid responses for your review, only the responses to the Scale and Complexity questions are included and you can see which games got the most responses and how players of multiple games compared them - SCN Poll Results Spreadsheet (51K).
Scale identifies the normal number of units controlled by a normal player:
Fighter Combat - 1-5 fighters
Fighters with ships - 1-5 fighters or a small ship
Starship Duel - Single ships
Task Forces - Up to 5 ships
Small Fleets - Up to 15 ships
Mass Fleets - Up to over 15 ships
Complexity is on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the most simple and 10 being the most complex.
Type indicates the type of game:
Board Game - Uses a hex grid for location
Miniatures Game - No grid, distance is measured
Card Game - Cards used, locations are abstracted
